The Kneebone Boy - Ellen Potter This book was really fantastic - up until the very end. It was well-written and funny. I enjoyed the relationships and interplay between the Hardscrabble siblings enormously; the building plot was exciting enough to keep me turning the pages; the overall spooky atmosphere lent a touch of Lemony Snicket to the book - only way, way better than Lemony Snicket. I really enjoyed nearly the entire book; in fact, I was thinking that it had been quite some time since I had enjoyed a book so very much - until about the last few chapters. The ending felt tacked-on and was incredibly disappointing after such a great buildup. I don't think I can even rate this book, except to say that it was 22 chapters wonderful, and 2 chapters downright disenchanting. Read at your own risk.
